Wideband Dual-Circular-Polarization Antenna With High Isolation for Millimeter-Wave Wireless Communications

This article presents a wideband dual-circular-polarization (dual-CP) antenna with high port isolation based on grooved-wall CP horn combined an orthomode transducer (OMT) in the W-band. A pair of grooves inner wall serves as inbuilt polarizer within antenna, which is capable generating both left-hand circular polarization (LHCP) and right-hand (RHCP) without any septum. The continuous linearly tapered groove design also allows this multisection to achieve low reflection coefficients over wide bandwidth, thereby realizing dual-CP when it used together OMT. prototype proposed designed simulation measured experiment. simulated results agree very well, showing that >32.5 dB 31.6% bandwidth from 80 110 GHz achieved axial ratio (AR) < 2.8 coefficient $< -20$ for LHCP RHCP. Rotationally symmetric radiation patterns entire operating are observed gain 19.6 ± 2 dBic.
